UK Visa previous travel dates question

Post Tue Apr 26, 2011 12:17 am

Hey everyone, I was hoping someone could help answer this for me.

I just sent my visa application off to Ottawa last Thursday (still haven't got an email to say that it has been successfully received, perhaps because of the holidays?). I had everything but I was just curious to know how fickle they are about previous travel dates. I'm applying for a Youth Mobility visa to Edinburgh, and I traveled to Glasgow two summers ago for a visit, however I don't remember how long I visited. In my application I said I stayed in Glasgow for 8 days but I know it was longer than that, yet I am not too sure how much longer. Do you think they would be able to track down the actual dates I stayed in Scotland for without seeing a leaving stamp in my passport? (I didn't get a stamp when I left, just when I arrived). I am hoping that my visa will still be approved.

Anyone had this problem in the past or could perhaps answer my silly little question?
Thanks! :)

hey mich - I can't see it being too much of a problem. I never got stamped when I left London in March and I've been freaking about it! (I still have my plane ticket and my baggage claim ticket was stickied to my passport).

I am going to have the same problem as you - I don't remember my all of my travel dates in the last 10 years (I've tracked down all of my trips and the stamps on the passport makes it easier but my trips to the States are going to be a pain to track down). I can tell you where I went and approx. when but the exact dates are killing me to hunt down.

I think they mostly want to see if you've ever been refused entry into any countries. I don't see how there should be any problems with your application but can certainly understand why you're sitting on pins and needles.

I would say the reason why you haven't heard anything has because of the holidays. Everyone had Friday off and government offices had yesterday off so you should *hopefully* hear something very soon.

Thanks for your reply!

I heard something yesterday from them saying I received it, and today I got my VISA!
Took only ONE day!!! Yay! Edinburgh, here I come! :D
