Hello!
I have just come back home from a 2 month visit in the UK. Very Happy I am hoping to go back over to work in November. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on VISAS. I qualify for ancestry visa, but wasn't sure if its easier to apply for this or a working holiday visa from Canada or if its quicker/easier to apply once I am in the UK. My cousin said that applying in the UK is easiest because I will already be there. But I wasn't too sure. I will probably apply from this end, but was hoping someone might have some advice. Smile

Also whats the usual wait time for a VISA? I was searching around, but I was getting no where and very fustrated. Twisted Evil

Any advice would be awesome.

Thanks
Amy

Hello.
I'm pretty sure that you have to apply from Canada before going over to the UK otherwise you could have difficulties at the airport. I would go for an ancestry visa, as it's good for twice as long as a working holiday visa.

I have an ancestry visa myself and I think it took less than a month to receive once I sent in my application.

I don't know about the ancestry visa specifically, but with visas in general, it's usually best to apply in country of origin. Then you can arrive with everything in order and hopefully be let in without any hassle.

I third what the others have said. Especially since you will be looking for work eventually, you may have issues with entering if you say that. Also if you don't say that and enter as a tourist/visitor then apply for a visa, it could be an issue. Just get yourself sorted in advance.
My husbands spouse visa was actually quite quick. If you have everything you need and you do qualify, you should have your visa in plenty of time.

Thank you to everyone who replied. I spoke with the British High Commission today over the phone and got my self sorted. Smile You were all right. Its easier to get it all here in Canada then do it once I am over.

Thank you All very much! Very Happy
