Unmarried Partner Visa - U turn on Policy

Unmarried Partner Visa - U turn on Policy

Postby gettingannoyed » Fri Feb 20, 2009 11:09 am

Update - we just heard from the UK that there has been a U-turn (again) in Uk Borders policy and you CAN apply from the UK for an Unmarried Partner Visa.
This doesn't help my boyfriend who has now applied for this visa from Canada and was orignally denied the visa from the UK.
Is anyone else in this situation?
We are still waiting to hear...it's been 9 weeks....

My boyfriend had an email from our Visa Company in London.

Anyone else in the same situation as me and my boyfriend?!

We are furious. It has cost us thousands of £££ in fees and flights to Canada, my boyfriends job, both of our stress levels are through the roof - all to be told that he could apply from within the UK. And now he has to go through with the application in Canada, which has taken 9 weeks (and counting). We began this application process in September.

It seems the Home Office is run by a bunch of idiots.

I think your the Visa company you are using is not really good.
First they told you that you could apply for the UK for your unmarried partner visa but but even I know that it is not true. It is on the UK visa website : http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... ty#8405974

They should have known that !

Also the government do not change their policy without warning. The new rules have been announced for months before they were into force a couple of months ago and it is unlikely to change for a while.

I think the visa company you are using are saying that to you so that you think the rules are constantly changing when they are not , that way they don't have to admit they have made a mistake.

Hi Joanne,
I would agree with you - they aren't very good. For anyone thinking of applying they are called Visa Logic, based in Parsons Green in London - please do not go with them.
However, this information wasn't on the website when we applied (September) or at least I don't think it was.....Do you think it was?
Thanks

hi again,

I remember seeing something about it on the website, maybe it was not as obvious as now but it was there.
If they are a visa company ,really they should know about every rules that exist when they help a customer to apply for a visa.
Unfortunately, i am not sure if they are regulated (don't think so) and I think a lot of them just take the money without being able to provide accurate information.
I am sorry that it did not work for you the first time and I hope things get sorted out !
When I applied for my visa I did not use anyone, i just read through the website and found out myself what I needed and what was required, I think that is the best way to do it.
