For those of you who followed my progress in the Unmarried Partner visa thread, I thought I'd give a bit of an update.

I said before that my extension came through to work in the UK. With that sorted, we waited (im)patiently for my partner's Canadian Immigration Visa to get approved.

Well, after a mere 38 days after receipt of the application in London, he's been approved! I'm going home to Vancouver on April 27th, after a brief hike in Wales, and a week in Northern Ireland. Then it's back to dill pickle chips, cheap sushi, wide open spaces, caesars, cheap Vietnamese food, good muffins, frank and direct conversation, and most importantly, family and friends! Very Happy

I'm sure I'll miss Manchester loads, but that's not my focus right this second. After 2.5 years without so much as a visit home, I'm well chuffed that I can finally finalize my plans.

Fantastic!

Congrats! They finally opened the application for my girlfriend that we sent in last August, about a week ago. Its so dumb. It says: Application received, Aug 4, 2005. Opened: March 3, 2006. Why oh why is there such a delay? It does say however that they made a decision about my eligibility to be a sponsor. Of course, being stupid, they can't just tell me that decision online, they have to put it in the mail and send it to us.

Anyways - Congrats for you! Amazing it only took 38 days. Praying it'll be that quick for us Smile

Yes, ours took ages at the Mississauga office as well. They sat on it for about 2 months, then took another month to figure out we didn't have enough information, sent our application back to us, then got around to making a decision in January. We got an acknowledgement of receipt from London CHC saying they began processing on January 31st. 38 days later and we got our approval.

Yours is being processed in the Budapest office, right? Have you checked their standard processing times? I spent a while browsing www.britishexpats.com to find out how long other people were waiting for the London office to process. It appears London is turning around family class applications much faster than expected (though the skilled worker class have to wait 39 months!)

Good luck with your application! Hopefully your process will be similar to mine - loads of waiting for Mississauga, then fast-forwarded through the rest of the process.
