Hey everyone!
I'm here in a town just south of Sydney and looking for a group to get together with on opening night (errr it'll be day here I guess) on October 4th (October 3rd back home) for the NHL Season Opener of Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens.
Not sure if there is anywhere that we could catch the game, but would love to get together with a group to catch it. Maybe if someone has some suggestions as to where may have a satalite link to the game or even if we could convince a bar owner to order the game, I'm sure we could get enough interested Canadians that would be willing to chip in if necessary.
Anyways, let me know what you think people!
Cheers
Jon

Hey Everyone!
Okay, so two things I realized after my last post....1, the home opener for the Leafs vs. Montreal is actually on October 7 (Thursday) @ 7pm EST, which here in Sydney would be October 8 (Friday) @ 10AM (remember daylight savings time begins on the Sunday before the game, so hence it goes from 14 hours difference to 15 hours difference)
Secondly, I was able to find out through some research and help from hockey fans back home, that there are 3 websites that broadcast all sporting events, live, no delay, and no charge.
So, the only thing left to do is find a venue (bar) that would allow us to plug a laptop into their TV and play the game. That is if everyone is still interested. Of course a couple things of note, there would obviously be a cost to get a mobile internet stick for this, unless someone has one here that we can "top-up" and get the game. Secondly, we might need to convince a bar owner or manager to allow us to do this, but if there's enough of us (and so far I've seen nearly 100 views of this topic), then I'm sure they would be happy to allow us to do so.
So, thoughts everyone? Anyone?
Let me know, the season is only 4 weeks away
Jon
