US Business Owner moving to Canada - Dual Citizenship

Post Wed Aug 11, 2010 6:11 pm

I am considering applying for dual citizenship (I was born on US soil to a Canadian Father)

I would like to apply because I am interested in moving to Canada for a long period of time.

The only issue I am concerned about is that I own a business in the US with 2 other partners. I would continue to work as a self employed individual while residing in Canada, as well as continue to keep my office running in New York (since my two business partners will not be part of my move to Canada) What are some of the things that I need to address in terms of taxes, my compensation, etc.

Would I continue to pay myself in US dollars? Would I have to pay US taxes and Canadian taxes? Can I keep my personal US bank account?

Thank you for any feedback.
