US to Canada for one month: do I need proof of funds?

Postby merwindow » Tue Nov 10, 2009 3:58 pm

Hi all, I'm a US Citizen. Am I going to be asked to provide proof of funds for a 30-day vacation (spent mostly traveling with a 30-day Via Rail pass)? If so, would having $1100cad suffice? (I'll have much more than that from residual payments from my work--though I'll receive this money after my vacation has begun.) I'll also have a ticket back to the states.

You won't be asked. besides, I'm sure you have a credit card. Carrying that much cash -- even on the safe streets of canada -- doesn't make much sense.

you *might* be asked. Canada doesn't like vagrants anymore than the US does. ;)
