I'll apologize in advance for my novel
I'm in the process of finishing up my VAF4A Fiancé Visa application. I'm just waiting on my bank statements to come in and I'll finalize my application (it's currently saved online) and make a WorldBridge biometrics appointment. I have to go to the Edmonton location since it's the closest one to Winnipeg. I'll drive there with a couple friends and try to make a fun weekend of it. When my bank statements come this week (they'd better!), I'll try to make an appointment for the next available weekend.
I have a couple questions though:
We don't have a wedding date or venue set in stone yet, since we both feel that it would be foolish to put a down payment without being absolutely certain I'll get approved. We toured a few venues just after New Year's and we've found one we like, so all it'll take is a phone call to reserve it. My fiancée wrote me a letter of support which states this, among other things. I think a firm date would be slightly more convincing to the authorities, but I'm just not that brave, plus it's her money on the line. Does anyone think this will this be an issue?
Should I also write a letter of intent to seek employment? I'm not allowed to work on a fiancé visa, I need Further Leave to Remain first, but that comes after the wedding. Is there anything I should include with such a letter, like a diploma or a CV? She makes enough to support both of us and has more than enough in the bank, so I'm not sure this is really necessary, but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Should I get her to send me a photocopy of her passport? I had to provide her passport number for the form, but I figure that since they're the UK government, they could just type it in and pull up all her details on the computer.
This is a list of the supporting evidence I'll be including:
- - My 2 passports (current and expired)
- My long form birth certificate
- My Certificate of Non-Marriage (proof I've never been married)
- My bank statements (3 months)
- My pay stubs (3-6 months)
- My RSP's annual statement
- My Co-op fuel equity statement (you have to show all income...)
- My criminal record check
- A list of my travels to the UK and other countries (the text box on their online form is way too small!)
- Her bank statements (5-6 months, they come quarterly)
- Her pay stubs (3-4 months)
- Her tax form from last year
- Her birth certificate
- Her letter of support
- Her mom's letter of support (to say we can live in her house)
- Land Registry documents for her mother's house
- A few nice photos of us together plus a selection of emails to prove we're not in some sham relationship and that we've previously met
- Her phone bills (3-6 months) to show the millions of hours we spend on the phone every month
That's all just off the top of my head, I might have missed something, but this stuff is all at home and I'm at work. I just need some passport photos which I'll get on Saturday and I think I'll have it all done finally!
If anyone could shout out if I've missed anything, that would be much appreciated. I just want all my i's dotted and t's crossed for this, since it directly affects the rest of our lives. We've spent 4 of the last 5 years living apart and we're absolutely sick of it!!
Thanks,
Cam

I just thought of another question.
In the part where you have to detail your trips abroad aside from the UK, do you have to include all the times you, say, went to the US? If so, that's absolutely ridiculous! Who can remember all that, especially if they travel a lot? I've not been many times myself, maybe 5-6 in the last 10 years, but I couldn't give anyone dates if I was being tortured.
What I've done is I just went by my passport stamps. There's enough of them to keep them occupied I think. Is that a bad idea? Should I say I'm unable to remember dates or just leave it out. How would they even find out?
Thanks,
Cam
