Postby nlw315 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 1:39 pm

Hello,
Any ideas which Visa I should apply for; my husband's company could be transfering him from Toronto, Canada. I would like to work as well; I'm a dental hygienist (I know that I have to do a skills transfer exams for dental hygiene)
Anyone who has experienced this and can help me would be greatly apprieciated!!
Thanks!

If you're husband is getting transferred then you should be included on his visa. I assume he's getting a temporary 457 visa which is the most common. Regardless, if the visa is temporary or permanent spouses still get included. So just make sure the company adds you to it as well.

Once his visa is granted (with you on it) you will be able to work with no restrictions. So as long as he has a valid visa (ie. working for the sponsoring company) you can continue to work.

So you won't need your own visa. You will however have to double check what is required in Australia for you to get work in your profession, it depends on how licensed your profession is.

Hope that helps.

Yes you will be able to work. Your husband needs to make sure you're included on his visa, he should discuss that with his HR.

Thanks for the info. I read your earlier posts-moving from TO to either Brisbane or Melbourne, which did you go for? We are in the position to do either place as well, any advice? We are also in the Toronto area and a family of three, how did the move work out for you? Did you bring your furniture, etc with you?
Thanks in advance for any other advice you may have to share!
