Volunteering in England

Post Tue Jan 04, 2011 8:38 am

Hi!

I'm planning to move to England in the summer 2011 to finally be with my boyfriend. Since I am 34 years old, obtaining a work visa is almost impossible without a sponsor. I am a certified teacher in Canada. So, my question is this...what do I need to do to be able to volunteer in a school in England? I thought about bringing over criminal record and child abuse check papers with me. What else would I need to do/bring over with me so that I can volunteer (in hopes of eventually finding a work sponsor)? I would also be open to volunteering elsewhere.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Willing to work in a school with poor rating from OFSTED and ideas to bring the school up to top marks. Lots of school here are now sponsered by local business and turned into acadmany.

There are lots of teachers being trained up over here so it is a fight for a teaching placement.
But the teaching jobs that are going free as my sister has told me as she is a teacher herself are teching placement in excludsion unit where staff turn over is high, due to stress. Willness to work in one of those units for free will give you fastrack into a sponcership.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Guiderj! The idea of a high stress environment isn't really what I was hoping to hear...hehe...but I'll take what I can get! Hopefully, I will be able to find something! Thanks again!
