Want a working Holiday VISA -but I'm married with kids. Help

Post Fri Aug 27, 2010 11:22 pm

It's always been a dream of ours (my husband and I) to live in Australia for a year or two. If we'd followed through on this 8 years ago (before we were married with kids) we could easily have signed up for the Working Holiday program. However, it looks like that's just not he case.

So here's my question...

What could we do, that would have a similar effect? We're not looking to permanently stay...but to live and work for a few years. We're young with two young children. My husband currently owns a Plumbing and Heating company - which we could easilly put on hold while gone. We took a little quiz/questionaire and it looks like he would easilly qualify for a skilled independent visa (or whatever it's called...we're so new to this so please excuse me if I'm completely wrong wtih everything). His training and work experience are directly related to several occupations on the skilled occupation list. So it looks good from that perspective. Unfortunately I don't add anything to his application because although I have relevent work experience and training - I took the last 2 years off to take care of our children.

Anwyay...with that info. Do you think it's even possible to fulfill this dream of ours? What would be the best route to take?
