Want to marry an American & bring him to Canada

What is the best procedure for a Cdn to get married to an American, and for him to come live up here (for the rest of our lives). He is retired, collecting pension from previous work/job. Would prefer to have wedding in AB or BC. I believe he could still receive pension up here? I am mid-50s, as is he - I would continue to work, but not necessarily him, or at least not an urgent priority. No criminal records or complicated stuff. In fact, his parents live in BC & comes into Canada often (his Mom IS a Canadian), but he's lived most of life in USA, and never got Cdn citizenship. Any advice / guidance ?
