Hi there, i am new to this site, but i feel to talk to someone who may be Canadian living in Brazil presently! I am in canada now and the love of my life, whom i've met online and have been speaking with for over 2years lives in Salvador. I would very much love to go and visit him, but there is not awhole lot of funding to allow me to do so, so i was hoping that if maybe i could find a fellow canadian who would be willing to help me out as far as accomodations are concerned, would be a wonderful thing! I am sure there are many other details i would have to look into as well, but to meet someone who is living there would be a great start for now! If anyone could offer some information or any advice I would certaintly appreciate it!

Hi girl! I'm new to the site too. My dad came from Canada to Brazil and we've lived here for more than 20 years in the south of Brazil. Salvador is a big capital and was initially colonized by African slaves, who today constitute majority of population. It is a nice city full of nice people, but as I know a bit from Canadians, don't expect sanitation or cleanliness - I can tell you that if you can let go of some stuff (as being obsessed with "safe meals") and allow yourself to have fun, you'll have the time of your life.

My husband has family in Fortaleza, but that's a bit far from Salvador. However, you could easily stay at a pousada, which is a very cheap option of bed and breakfast for us. Our currency is the Brazilian Real, which is cheaper than the Canadian Dollar, but bring US dollars when you come. Credit cards are taken quite a lot - I honestly think you'll have a great time.
