Was in the US longer then six months.

Okay! So i've been in the USA since August; because I am to shadow a friend to check out a college. I did this without a visa and this was the reason provided to the people at border control. They at first turned me away and asked me to come back the next day with some paperwork to prove thats why I was going over.

I went back with a return flight which is for April 1st (I left Canada August 16th). I showed them a bank statement that said I had money in the bank and could support myself. I had emails from students and professors at the college saying it was okay. When i say i showed them I handed them a folder and they said ' i'm going to assume you have everything we asked you to get' and they let me through.

The first time I went through they finger printed me ect; and just put my passport on lock; then the next day obviously since I went through and did what they asked it was all okay.

My question is this. I was allowed to come through and they acknowledged I was staying here until April 1st. I am taking a Trip to Mexico from the 21st of March to the 29th. What I am worried about is obviously all the information I provided Costums in August isn't in their computer system or however it works. Since I stayed here longer then six months I can imagine i'm going to have some explaining to do.

What I plan to have with me is obviously my final return to ticket once I return here and have my last three days in the states. I am going to have information on why I was here; and have my lease for my apartment that says that it ends on April 1st -- with a number for my landlord. Another reason I was allowed to stay longer was cause I have family in the states and they looked at it as someone whom I contact if I ever ran into any problems.

I'm only 19 as well -- so I think they knew I wasn't moving here; just coming for a short life experience.

So yeah the main question is this.

You cant stay longer then six monts; they let me come through anyways and knew I was staying longer; i'm going on a trip to Mexico for spring break -- do you think i'll have any trouble coming back into the states for my last three days?

It's impossible to say frankly. They do have the authority to allow people in under B-2 for up to a year (which appears to be what they've done), but once you leave obviously that expires. The next guy you get may not like the fact you were in for eight months and are immediately re-entering. If you've got a plane ticket or something like that to prove you are only entering on your way back to Canada, I suspect they'd let you in, but it's down to the CBP guy you talk to really. I'd be surprised if they didn't to be honest but after reading some of the horror stories on here you can never be certain.
