Watching Hockey Games downunder??

Post Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:57 am

I guess I'm only away from Canada for a year so I should be able to leave the hockey alone for that time, but I'm not sure how easy it will be once I get there....anyone know of anywhere that shows games? Highly doubt it's available but thought I would try!

There are actually quite a few options. Where in Oz are you living?

You can get Foxtel (cable tv) and get the sports channels. They usually play a couple of games a week, more during playoffs. Not as many games as Canada but it'll do.

If you've got a high speed internet connect you could also pay to subscribe to the NHL Game Centre website (think that's what it's called).

We've done both of those and they worked well. I've heard there are sites you can watch them on for free after the game has aired but my husband was far too impatient for that!

Get NHL gameCentre. $160 USD and you can have all the games streaming live or delayed to a PC. Each game takes about 2GB of downloads. Its awesome.

Or convince someone in Canada to set up a slingbox for you.

There's a group in Melbourne that shows games about every 2 weeks at a pub in the city, with somewhere between 20-100 Canadians around, it's an atmosphere just like back home.

Just search for the Hockey Night in Melbourne group on Facebook.
