What exactly do you need to work in the UK?

Post Mon Dec 31, 2007 5:00 pm

What exactly do you need to work in the UK? I am a British and now Canadian Citizen. My daughter wants to work for a while in the UK.

I have checked all websites concerning Work Permits, Visa's etc but I think she could get a Passport as I was still British when she was born in Canada in 1987.

We want the quickest and cheapest option for her to work in ANY job. She has been offered Au Pair and an office job and a store/coffee place job. Would the passport idea be the best? Do you need something else to work like a Visa too? Cost of Visa is $450 and the cost of a passport is $550. Wondering if we can get away with one rather than the other and which route is best.

Thanks,

J

If she was born in 1987 then she does qualify I was born in 1984 to a British Mother and got her citizenship the exact same way.
I would go to the British embassy in Canada with her and get her registered. Once she is British she can go to Britain as a citizen-its a lot easier this way.
long live the Canadian republic
vive la republic Canadienne
