What kind of Visa?

Post Mon Nov 17, 2008 4:08 am

The more information I read here, the more discouraged I get. Is there any hope for me getting there at all? It will take years, if I have to wait for the divorce to be final, as I am just filing now.

You'll get to where you want to go--don't worry :)

Thank you for those kind words of encouragement. All I want is to join a man that I have fallen in love with.doesn't seem like it should be such a complicated matter, but.I guess there are no "romantic visas". Too bad!

I am too dealing with the same situation.

[b]Hi there,

I am going through somewhat of the same situation. I too am in love with a man that is from the UK. Its completely a mind boggling situation that has me in tears one day and frustrated the next. I chose to reply to your thread, because quite frankly there was so much information on all the other threads that I couldnt process it all.

Anyway, I want to move to the UK, but am too going through a divorce, and I dont know how long it can be before I can apply to move. One thing that I am wondering is, if you were born before the nationality law changed in 77 or 81, does that mean that we can apply based on the status of "British Subject"?

Let me know how you get on in your process, and maybe through all of the back and forths we can aide the other one in making the move that much easier!

Best of luck to you,

British subject?

Post Mon Nov 17, 2008 4:55 pm

Hi there and thank you for you response. I had never thought of the British subject angle, and can't seem to remember seeing any reference to it anywhere. But,,,at my age.born in 1957, technically I was born a British subject.and you were also, I guess. Do you think this may be an advantage?
I was looking at attending a university or college and applying for a student visa.as nothing else seemed to apply. And it never hurts to have more education, but it is very costly to attend, as a foreign student. But I will check out the British subject aspect and see if I can find any information on that. Thanks again.
