Hi,
Here's my situation: I've previously worked in the United States in the Northeast on a
TN visa (computer systems analyst) for two years. I had no issues with obtaining this type of visa. I'm a Canadian citizen, born in Canada.
Currently, I'm doing my grad degree up in Canada but I want to return to the United States to work in the same city I previously worked in for two years, but this time with a different employer. I've luckily met a contact through my network and he's willing to help me out with the job search, but the only thing he knows about me is my current studies. He wants me to send him an email with my resume and he'll try to see if I'm a good fit for his organization (city-level government, municipal).
Therefore, I have two ways to move forward with this:
1. I could just send him my resume and not mention anything about being a Canadian citizen and previously holding a TN visa for 2 years with no problems. He might assume I'm Cdn or may not.
2. I could, within the body of the email with resume attached, let him know in a sentence that I have previously worked in his city as a TN visa holder, being a Canadian citizen, and had no issues with obtaining this visa. Just as a heads up.
Part of me wants to just leave this out and hope he doesn't care or just thinks I'm eligible to work in the USA. But something else says that if he makes the assumption that I'm not local (various work experience on resume in Canada, and at Canadian school, my Canadian address), then he may have reservations. And my statement in #2 would hopefully reduce these.
Any thoughts? I need to send this email ASAP. Thank you!
