When will the USA will let me in after I get my TN?

Hey! I have 2 questions for you guys about the TN visa!

If my letter from the employer states that I will be working Dec 15/07 - Dec 15/08, should I apply for the visa very close to the date or can it be a couple weeks earlier?

If my work start date is Dec 15th will the U.S. allow me entry into the country a couple weeks early so I can settle in?
Excited to buy beers at the grocery store!

You can apply a couple of weeks early just remember your TN Visa will begin on the date you are approved and given the TN Status. So if you went on Dec 01 and obtained your TN, then it will be valid for one year from Dec 01.

The following year, you'll have to apply on or before Dec 01/08.

Actually to clarify, most Ports and PCOs won't let you apply in advance. From personal experience there are some ports that do allow application up to 30 days in advance of the start date.

We don't recommend listing actual dates of employment, because there's always delays and CBP will accept a statement of "one year period."

Good luck.
