Where to Live and Flat Questions

Post Mon Jan 17, 2011 8:50 pm

I am moving to the UK shortly for a job.
I will be working partially from home and partially on client site (mostly within London's financial area).
I was thinking of moving to Tunbridge Wells (mostly because it is where my grandmother grew up).
I would love to hear from anyone about the commute, the area in general or any suggestions on more 'appropriate' places to locate.
I am in my 30s and have a 17 year old daughter.

I have been looking at the postings for flat rentals. Generally speaking, do the prices listed include utilities or council taxes?
Thanks for any advice!

Flat prices do NOT normallly include council tax or utilities.

Tunbridge Wells is a nice area.
the best idea is to go on the national rail website to see train concetion if you are not planning on buying a car.

I believe you can look up season ticket prices on www.nationalrail.co.uk - and don't expect them to be cheap!

However, Tunbridge Wells is a nice town and definitely commutable, though journey times would depend on where you're heading in London.

There are plenty of alternatives however - others might be Guildford, south west of London, Maidenhead to the west.
