Where to work? please advise! txs, 25 f cdn backpacker

Hello!

I am headed over to London on the 3rd, I have a working visa. I want to work outside of London.
Some of the places I have read about so far that I am interested in are Bournemouth, Lancaster(Lake District area, Grassmere, etc) and Nottingham.

I am looking at getting a cafe job/counter service type job, or perhaps working in a hostel.

What are people's opinions of these places? Is bournemouth a lot more expensive since it is in the south compared to Notthingham? I don't want to work really far north like newcastle, but I am OPEN to other suggestions.

I like decent size towns.

Thanks so much for the advice!

Difficult to advise really - as you could pick up the kind of work you're seeking almost anywhere. Of the places you mention, however, Nottingham is the largest - it's a sizeable city with a fairly urban feel. Bournemouth is a large and quite scenic coastal town, home to some large banking and finance companies, and some very affluent residential areas.

Lancaster is the smallest of the three, but I don't know anything else about it.

Hi Megan

Probably u r already in london now and u might have made up yr mind already abt whr 2 live in UK. But having lived in or seen all the cities u've listed in yr question i can confidently say that I find Nottingham to be the best. I live and work in Nottingham at present and I moved here frm Birmingham after I finished my degree. Nottingham is in the Midlands (meaning its in the middle of the country) so u hav easy access to everyehere else in Britain. Its also full of beautiful ancient European architecture. Very well connected by train and coach service to the rest of the country - amd least to mention it has its own airport so popping into other countries in Europe on weekend breaks is very conveniently possible.

Hope this information will help u in some way

Regards, Adnan
