Hello,

I have a few questions about the WHM visa application:

1) I have a boyfriend in the UK and I'm going to be staying with him and his family until we have enough money to rent a flat. Do I mention this, or do I just say I'm staying with friends. I hate the thought of lying on the application and having it come back and cause me trouble later. (For example, if we decide to get married and we ask for a Certificate of Approval and I switch over to a Spouse visa, they ask when/where you met, how long you've been together, etc.) Will they go back and check that we were together before I came over on the WHM visa, and thus lied on the WHM application?

I am soooo scared of being denied entry because of this. And a tiny bit paranoid! Wink

2) Technically, I'm staying with my boyfriend's parents. Do I put their name instead of my boyfriend's since they own the house. (Or just give my boyfriend's name/address since they don't seem to ask if he owns the place.)

3) After I enter my boyfriend's name and address (as the person I'll be staying with) it asks me to confirm my relationship to him. Well, he's not my husband and Proposed Civil Partner seems so official and isn't the case anyways. Do I just choose 'Other'?

I'm sorry for all the questions!

Thanks for your help!

Kate

I'm not applying for the WHM visa, but I did read up on it a little, so this is all based on my opinion.

It wouldn't be lying if you said you were staying with friends. I believe before you go over you need to prove that someone will be supporting you (providing a home). The proof will most likely be their mortgage, so the names on the papers would be the parents, and when they ask the relation, it would be the relation to the parents.

Although, I don't advise lying on your application because it could come back to haunt you. I highly doubt the Visa police are going to check up and see if you are dating their son. I'd just put the parents name down.

On your application form you can just put the address of where you're going to be staying. They don't ask for proof from whoever owns the place. An address and telephone number is all they require. It doesn't make a difference whether you put him or his parents as the people you are staying with. If you use his parents, just say they're your friends.

They will ask you at immigration where you are staying/who you're staying with, so just make sure that you know the address in your head so you can tell them.

I can't find anywhere on the form where it asks you to 'confirm your relationship' and gives you the choices of husband, civil partner or other. Are you filling this out online?

Just a heads-up--If you tell them you are staying with a friend, they will likely ask you if it's a boy or a girl, and if you say boy they will probably ask you outright if he's your boyfriend. If you say he's just your friend they shouldn't give you any hassle and let you through, but I've spoken to a few people who admitted they were staying with their boy/girlfriend and they didn't seem to have any trouble either. So it's up to you what you say. Just remember that they're writing it down!

Feel free to PM me if you need anything Smile

Thanks for your responses! Smile I am now definitely less worried!

Retromelissa: I always have a TON questions, so I might take you up on your PM offer when I start to panic again, which will probably next week and every week after that until I make it past scary Passport Control! Smile

Thanks again!

I have a question related to the WHV. I am entering London on WHV next week.I get to London on the 26th at 6am and then I have another flight to Dubai for 10pm that same night. Will it be a problem? I know you can travel freely but will it cause an issue seeing as I am coming in and leaving the same day?

Anyone?
