Who's here?

Post Tue Dec 21, 2004 8:57 pm

This site is great. We need a
place like it to discuss expat issues
and maintain a solid connection back to Canada. How about some introductions?
My name is Vaughn and I live in Duncan,
BC. I am not now an Expatriate Canadian.
I was for 5 years and I hope to be again
but for now, I am a pretender. In fact,
it has been 3.5 years since I moved back.
In my defense, I am 42 years old so it
still seems like I just moved back home.
How is this for pathetic: I moved my
family to 3 different states over 5 years
and then we moved back to the same
house. Same house, town, province and
country that we left. Wait! I got a
job in the same government ministry that
I used to work in. It isn't all bad,
however. We have spared no expense to
restore the house to a barely habitable
condition. If my mother reads this,
she will disagree with the habitable
label.
That is my intro. How about yours?
Prove to me that the Internet is alive.
Vaughn.

I suppose I should answer - It's my site after all! :)

My name's Matt, 24 years old, and I'm right now living in Victoria BC.

I lived in Germany for a couple years, and in Budapest for a little while. Have travelled extensively (30 or so countries).

I'm living in Victoria right now, waiting for my girlfriend to finish at UVIC. She's from Sweden, and so when she's done there's a good chance of us moving back to someplace in Europe.

I hope everyone enjoys the site, and PLEASE tell your friends about it - It's the only way we can really get this community going.

Cheers, and look forward to reading some more intros!

Matt

My name is Olivier, I'm 19 from Montreal. I have travelled some in Europe and in 19 days I'm going back for 4 months to vagabond around with a friend. Welcome to the site, though I myself have only been here a few weeks, and ask a lot of questions (and hopefully you can answer some of mine).

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi There!
I am Michelle, age 34 and I live in Scotland with my American husband and Scotland born daughter. I've been here for 3.5 years and was in SanFrancisco for 7 years before that. I am originally from the Toronto area (Oakville last) and we are considering a move back now.
I think this site is great and do pass on the word whenever possible!

Welcome Michelle and thanks for the other post as well. Your daughter has tri-citizenship and EU status, eh! How is the weather in Scotland? Getting cold here on Vancouver Island with snow possible.

HIya,

I'm Lori, 32, born and raised in Chatham, Ontario, but last living in Toronto. I live and work in the London borough of Bexley and have been here for almost (!) 5 weeks.

Other than finding the whole bank account thing EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!! I am loving it here.

Oh and I am a Dutch citizen as well as Canadian which makes life so much easier!

Hello! Yep, both my daughter and I are tri-citizens. It certainly does leave us lots of options.
The weather has been very temperate here the last few days. We had snow for two days which is typical.
Have a good new years or Happy Hogmany as they say here in Scotland!
