who to call?

who to call?

Postby embean » Wed Jul 15, 2009 8:22 am

I am a Canadian citizen, born in 1987, trying to apply for dual citizenship. My father is a UK citizen who was born in the UK.

I believe I am eligible by descent. I also believe I don't have to have applied before the age of 18.

I tried visiting the British Embassy today, but of course they didn't let me in, they just gave me a business card with the "ukincanada" website on it. I can't find any information on my specific situation. I tried calling the passport helpline at 1-900-783-5791 but it's telling me this number is out of service?

I just want to speak to a live person to verify my scenario before I commit to the time and expense of applying for a passport....

Hi, I'm a canadian citizen who was born in 1990. My father is currently in the Uk and he was born there and I also tried to get my dual citizenship. But, since I'm an adult now and because my parents weren't married at the time I was born, they told me it was impossible for me to get it. I have younger sisters (who aren't adults) who can get theirs no problem. I am trying to find a way to still get mine (probably hiring lawyers....) saying that my parents were too dumb to get mine while I was underage and now I want it. Anyway, that's all I can help you with. If I find anthing else, I'll let you know.

Best of Luck!!
