Wife to Visit?

Post Tue Sep 02, 2008 11:28 am

I have currently become employed in the UK and am moving to Manchester in the next couple of weeks. My wife is wishing to come and visit me and return home to Saskatchewan at Christmas then return to Machester after her stay in Canada till i return home in April. Does she need a visa to come visit me? Cant she just visit like on a holiday because her stay is broken up and not an extended stay? Any help would be most appriciated.

Lost and confused

Visitors are allowed to come in the UK for six months (over a period of one year). If your wife intend to come for longer than six months she will have to look at a visitor visa for a longer period.

also :

- she will have to show that she can support herself financially for the period of time that she will be here
for
- She will have to have health insurance, NHS will not be free for her
- Should have a return ticket to show that intend to go back to Canada
- on a visitor visa she will not be allowed to work (or do any voluntary work) or study

Hope this helps
