Will i be denied a Nexus Card?

Post Sat Nov 01, 2008 10:09 am

my boyfriend is American. I am Canadian. I have my nexus already. he wants to apply for his, but has heard he may be denied. he is 41, but when he was 21, he was charged (in the US) with DUI.but never convicted. Anyone have any info/experience on this? should he waste his time/money? Thanks FP

If there is actually a record of him being charged with DUI, he will be inadmissable to Canada. If there is no record, he should be fine.

You'd need to have an NCIC check done to see if there is anything in there, he can find out by going to his local PD, they fingerprint him and then send it in to FBI-CJIS in West Virginia, usually costs around $50. If he's got a record in NCIC they will send back a report.

CBSA and USCIS run their background checks through NCIC.

just wondering i took a Voluntary departure once in 2002? or 03?
I had no bars nothing on my record besides the Voluntary Departure.

After i took the departure i have got 3 TN Visa

What are my chances? I want to apply for this pass. I cross the border around 10x a year sometimes even more.

Not a big deal just curious
Any answer will be appreciated
Thanks

Obviously they don't have a problem with you visiting so I can't see why you'd have a problem getting the card. You have to go to the NEXUS office to get your status added to your card though which is a bit tricky with TN-1 because you apply for it at the POE. Depends on how good they are at doing NEXUS stuff at the POE you use.
