I have been offered high profile a 40-100 day consulting assignment, sub contracting to a Big Five consulting firm. I have been told that the only way to get the work permit/visa to perform this work is via the immigration process. The role was never publicly advertised in UK, but the private government agency requested the Consulting Agency to find the resource. They have selected me for the work, but the start time is quite urgent and I'm having a difficult time with correct way to expedite this through the immigration process. The compensation is in the 6 figures, so it is not what would be considered a job that many could perform.

I was born and raised in Canada and have a college diploma related to the job at hand and over 25 years of senior level experience in the IT role requested by the government agency. I am of Canadian/British origin, albeit not my grandparents, but all of my great grandparents in the 1840's.

I have looked at the HSMP but an immigration specialist has reviewed and said that my educational background would not work for this. Since the contract was never advertised to the public, I can't apply for a Tier 2 visa.

This is a very high profile posting, and the agency has not been able to find the proper skills in the EU. I'm baffled that a Canadian company (I am incorporated in Canada) cannot do a short term consulting assignment, sub contracted through one of the world's largest consulting firms.

Could someone recommend experienced UK work visa consultant(s) or specialists who could provide the best guidance here? Any suggestions? Should I approach the local British Consulate or Trade Commission here in Canada?

Many thanks!

For a work permit, the company should be applying for it on your behalf:
