Work visa question and heading home

Post Thu Dec 06, 2007 8:00 am

Hey All,

My work visa TN and my fiance's TD visa expire March 7th 2008 and I will not be renewing it. Can I work right up to the 7th and head home between the 7th and the 11th. Is there a certain amount of time to get back across the border after you visa expires.

By the way if anyone was interested Colorado is a really friendly place and very Canadian friendly. We got bugged abit and heard all the steriotypical canadian crap about igloos and moose. Overall though we were able to wear our Calgary Flames jerseys to games and everyone was really cool about it.

Also who do I see when I cross back across the border? Do I stop into the US immegration office and get them to stamp my visa or something to say I've returned and my work visa is complete, or do I stop into the Canadian side and do it there.

Really, when you are going home, you don't need to do anything except drive over the border. The US officials don't care that you're returning home. If you have stuff being shipped, you need to have that documented.

I guess you can work up to the date your TN visa expires, why not?

Good to know colorado is a good place to be. What about the availability of vegetarian restaurants in the region or cities e.g Denver. How is the cost of living ?

Not sure on the vegan thing. The steak and vegtables you buy in a Colorado supermarket sucks though. They kinda alittle pathetic really. Its pretty hippy like in places so I'd imagine vegan restaurants exist.
The cost of living isn't cheap though. A typical 2 bedroom apartment is between $950 for a year lease to $1200 plus for shorter leases. We pay $1200 right now on a 3 month lease. The one thing to keep in mind with Denver is traffic is retarded at rush hour.

Thanks. I think all cities are bad at rush hour. The cost of living (mainly housing) is good though.try NYC for a a 2 bedroom apt.

Denver is up and coming with a lot of new sectors so I am interested.
