Working Holiday in Australia

Working Holiday in Australia

Postby Ness80 » Sun May 08, 2005 1:30 pm

Hi there,

I'm planning on going on a working holiday to Australia.

I have no idea what to expect regarding work or living or even getting around. Is there anyone out there who has some "been there, done that" advice for me?

Thanks!

Ness

Hi Ness
I am in Australia on a working holidaymaker visa, and recently returned from London where I was on a working holiday visa there. I can tell you that there are a number of job opportunities here, and I often see ads that say "travellers welcome" for shortterm positions.

A car is handy in Australia, but I can only comment on Melbourne...the public transport tram/bus/train system is pretty good and it would be helpful to live somewhere close to the city centre. Where in Australia were you thinking of going?

Websites of some Canadians who've been there & done that:

http://emuu.net/?010490 - two Canadians who lived & worked in Australia

http://australia.beimers.com/week1.html - two Canadians who cycled around Australia - somewhat less relevant than the first url, but a lot of fun to read
