Working Holidaymaker Visa and the Writer

Post Fri Oct 26, 2007 4:12 pm

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to begin by saying that this website has been so helpful and informative and I don't know what I'd do without it! So thanks to everyone who contributes to it! :)

I have a somewhat strange question. Here's the situation: I am moving to the Devon area in the Fall of 2008 on a Working Holidaymaker Visa. I plan on taking odd jobs during my travels: grocery stores, bookshops, etc. I've been working on a novel for some time now and plan to finish it when I'm in the UK.

Does anyone know if seeking representation from a literay agent (in the hopes of being published) breaks any of the WHM visa rules? (I've never been published before.) And what if I do (and this is a big IF) get published by a company in the UK? Does that cause any problems?

Thanks for your time! :)

Well hey there I saw you post this on the other canucks forum lol!

I honestly don't know if you'd be breaking the terms of your visa here. The best way to find out is to contact the home office and ask them. The number for the immigration enquiry bureau is 0870 606 7766. You could try e-mailing them, but they'll probably just tell you to ring them anyway (they do this to me most of the time lol).
