Working in Amsterdam on a UK Ancestry VISA?

Working in Amsterdam on a UK Ancestry VISA?

I'm a canadian citizen with a british born Grandfather. I am looking into applying for a UK Ancestry VISA. I have a job opportunity in Amsterdam and I'm wondering if I'll be legally allowed to work in Holland or other EU countries with the aquisition of a UK ancestry VISA. If so, will a work permit for Holland still be necessary to aquire also. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

mark

Hi - I think you will be out of luck in this case. I had "right of abode" in the UK via a grandparent, and lived in London. This did not allow me to automatically work in other EU countries. If you only have the right to work in the UK (without an EU passport) it generally only applies to the UK. So I'm pretty sure you would need a NL visa to work here in Amsterdam.

Thanks Andrew3000...Ya I was getting conflicting reports. Do you know if "right of abode" is the same thing as an Ancestry VISA? I've decided to go on a work/travel visa to holland and then look at hopefully having a company there sponsor a longer term visa.
