Hey guys, brand new to this forum, it's pretty sweet so far!

I'm just gonna get right into it and tell you my situation.

So me and my buddies (2 of us 18, 1 of us 19) decided that it would be really cool to go to Australia to work for a year. I talked to my parents, and they said that I have immediate family over there, that I apparently met last summer. They said that they would let us stay with them until we found jobs and got on our feet, like a found a place and everything. My family lives in Newcastle, if that matters. So my deal is that I know it can't just be so easy as that we go there and apply for a job, i'm sure we have to get something to allow us to work in Australia? So I was looking into things called Work Visas, and I think that's what we need. So, do I need to get one before I go, or can I wait til I get there?

Thanks for anyone who can help us out, if you need any additional information, just ask!

Thanks,

Kent

You do need a working holiday visa to work in Oz. Super easy to apply for but you might want to apply before you get to Australia.just makes it easier for you. Your work visa entitles you to 1 year of work and then if you wish to stay in Oz you will need to apply for visitor visas BEFORE your work visa expires (I think it is at least 30 days before). You can apply for your work visa online and it is really simple, fill in the form pay the fee ($185 i think) and you are usually approved within 72 hours! Once you are approved you have up to 1 year to get to Australia.so you have time to plan Smile but once here the year on your work visa starts ticking working or not. You can check out job opps. at seek.com.au.
Hope that all helps Smile
