Working in Europe

Post Tue Jun 29, 2010 4:11 am

I'd like to travel to various European countries, possibly working as I go.Is a working visa required for each one?If so,how much trouble is it to get one while you're there? Not certain on the countries I would visit, would take it as it comes, only looking for jobs while there. Is this possible?
Ideally I would like a central resource to find out about working regulations in al countries but am expecting I would have to contact each individual country.
I hold a Canadian passport with Right of Abode in the U.K.

For most countries, to get a work permit, you will need a job offer, so the country/permit issue will be defined by who you get job with.

For UK of course, you can go there tomorrow and work.

i've been over and worked before but only for my board. From your reply I'm guessing that going over and just hoping to get a legitimate paid job while there is pretty much a none starter then.

Depends on your talent (and this is for a job portla not here), but if you get an interview and then have to add, oh by the way, you'll need to get a work permit for me (as opposed to nothing for Europeans), you might have a problem.

Besides, when you visit a country, its not to look for work.

You can do all this in Britain however, so you might want to give it a try.

Another thing you could look at is if your right of abode is really UK citizenship. That would give you free access to all of Europe.
