Working in the EU with citizenship papers only?

I have posted in the 'Canadians in France' section, but am hoping for any advice here, if possible, as well.

I have a Canadian passport, and have just received my Austrian citizenship as well. I was wondering if I can work and live abroad (ie. France) with my Austrian citizenship papers alone and use my Canadian passport as a travel document? At some point I will get my Austrian passport in Vienna, but for now does anyone know if it's ok to work and live in the EU with the citizenship papers alone?

Again- I have dual Canadian/Austrian citizenship and a Canadian passport.

Thank you very much!!
