Just a tid-bit of advice if I may... I worked in Scotland, at a restaraunt in a shopping center, LEGALLY. I had all the docs, legit company i worked for etc. HOWEVER, they withheld my last weeks pay due to when cutoff fell, I was promised by the owner that I would have a cheque in the mail. This was in August, its now half way through November and I have nothing. The company has claimed that I didn't work that last week

I foolishly neglected to photo-copy the schedule before I left, and also neglected to ask for anything from the owner in writting. I am whooped now. My brother-in-law still lives and works there, and he has actually gone as far as to threaten to quit if they don't sort me out SOON. Please let my experience be a lesson, I'm not saying don't work in the UK by any means, but just take measures to protect yourself. Get things in writting, and photo copy schedules etc and KEEP YOUR PAY STUBS! Once your back in Canada, you
can fill out a claim form, however... they want to know dates and numbers people. Therefore, if you have some docs with you it makes it alot easier to claim.
Be smart.
