Working remotely while visiting the US

Post Fri Feb 26, 2010 3:50 pm

I know this has been asked multiple times, but I'm getting conflicting information. I think most of the posts I've seen are about someone working from the US semi-permanently, or for long periods of time.

I'm a Canadian working for a German company with an office in Canada.
I'd like to visit the US for a month or two while working remotely.

Am I allowed to do this? What are the limitations on working from the US temporarily?

One of the major problems I've run into is that some sources say I can only do work if it doesn't benefit my company's presence in the US.

My company does contract marketing of our products to a company in the US, though it doesn't directly sell to US clients. If the above is true, would this make me unable to legally do work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
