Hey Guys,

My boyfriend and I are planning on moving to New Zealand (from Vancouver) for a year in January. just to get the taste of a new lifestyle. I was born in New Zealand and therefore have NZ Citizenship, but my boyfriend does not. We have been together for 3 years but do not "technically" qualify as common-law because I don't "technically" live with him. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows my best route as to getting him into the country? I've been doing some research and it appears to be much harder than getting into say England or Australia. is that right? I'm not sure which type of visa to apply for. and when to apply for it (when there or before). All I know is that he only needs a one year visa as we plan on coming back after 14 months. Thanks in advance for your help!

We too are looking for Visa information. Has anyone gone through the experience? We would greatly appreciate any information that you can share.

Thanks

Hello,

I went over to NZ for 8 months and worked using a working holiday visa. It's a one year working visa. You have to be under 30 to apply and it's really easy to get.

Cheers,

Hey Kiwgirl

are you in NZ now? hope you got this visa thing sorted. I would have said he should get a work visa, or even a work permit (work permit is only good while you in NZ, if you leave it becomes void, whereas a work visa is good for 2 years, and allows you to come and go. You apply for a work visa from Canada, its easier to get all your medicals, police checks etc done before you come to NZ, although I think you can also apply from within.

Go those Canucks!
