Would I need TN or H1 or B1? Confused!

My husband and I are both Canadian citizen. He's doing his residency with TN visa in the US now. I am going to join him soon. My Canadian employer in Canada is willing to let me telecommute. So work would be exactly the same except I would be physically in the US. Would I need TN visa for this or another type? Different people have been telling me different things so far.

Technically, as spouse of a TN holder, you're eligible for a TD visa. The TD however does not allow you to work in the US. And from what I've been told by US CBPs is that if you're in the US on US soil and working, you are required to have a work permit, even if you're telecommuting for a Canadian company.

Would you need to periodically return to Canada for meetings and stuff with your employer?

Someone else more versed in employment visas may know of another way.
