When searching for jobs, is it advisable to put down your visa status? If so, where I should I put it?

I was also wondering about the current economic situation in the UK and how it is affecting local jobs, and what the chances of getting a job under the Youth Mobility Scheme would be.

I was almost detered from applying for the Visa because I was afraid of not being able to get a job and having to come home.

I have yet to apply for my Visa, but was also thinking about leaving mid August... If I wait til the end of July to apply and all goes well with my application, does anyone know if I could expect to have my Visa within 2 weeks?

if everything goes well, you should be able to get it within two weeks - mine only took 5 business days, but it isn't guaranteed that it will happen that fast.

Hi there,

I've found a lot of your advice really helpful.

I had a few more questions:

1. Can I submit my online application and make my appointment before I have all my documents? I'm looking to apply by the end of the week and I won't be able to be in Toronto until early August.

2. Do I need a criminal record check? I know all of the supporting documents, but is there anything else? Some people have been mentioning a UK Criminal record check. Is there anything else I should be sure to have?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

hey there

to answer your questions:

1. yes you can submit your application and make your appointment before you have all of your documents. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to get them (it doesn't take long). As long as you make it to your appointment before your online application expires, you should be fine.

2. no you do not need a criminal record check. You just need your documents.....printed version of online application, bank statement(s)/letter(s), passport, printed (manually filled-in) document (the one determining how many points you have). I had copies of everything plus the manually filled-in application and they handed a lot of the stuff back to me lol. Monday was an appointment in Toronto, Tuesday everything arrived in Ottawa, Wednesday my visa was approved and Thursday everything was back in Toronto ready for pick up.
