Youth Mobility Scheme

Youth Mobility Scheme

Postby caisenma » Tue Jan 13, 2009 2:09 pm

Can anyone help with some questions about the Youth Mobility Scheme? Do you know what kind of work you are able to do if you get this kind of visa? Do you have to get the visa in Canada first, and then head to the UK, and do you need to have secured a job before you go, or can you look once you get there?

Also, is it true that you are now able to work for the full 2 years as opposed to the 12 months for the Working Holidaymaker Visa?

Thanks

Yeah, you can work for the full 2 years. Soon as you start work, you're covered under the national health insurance too. (You're automatically covered for the second year regardless)
Anyway, you don't have to have a job first. You just have to have the 1600 pounds... I applied for mine earlier this month. They processed it in a day. As long as you have what they ask for, you should get it, no problem.
As for the types of work, there's very few you're not allowed to do. There's lots of info on the site visa4uk site about it, and links.
