Youth Mobility Visa Maintenance of Funds

Post Fri Nov 05, 2010 11:15 am

Hey guys,
I'm looking to apply for the Youth Mobility Visa. I qualify under all of the conditions of the visa and have adequate funds in my account. My question is regarding the 'You must have £1,600 of available funds in your account and these funds must have been continuously in your account for a period of 90 consecutive days when you apply'.

Is a letter from the bank stating your current account balance adequate or do they check to see if you have complied with the 90 consecutive days?

Thanks guys!!

You can submit your bank accounts showing thta you have the required maintenance funds or alternatively, your "pass-book" or a letter from your bank or financial institution. You will find more info at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... intenance/

Would they ever know the difference if I used available funds from a line of credit? And if they noticed, would my funds still be considered acceptable for a YMS visa approval?

Using funds from a line credit means that you don't actually have the funds, which may indeed impact on the decision.

Yikes! How closely do they look into your banking? Just what we give them?

To update anyone looking into this: When I arrived in New Zealand, customs said "Hello, you are Canadian. Here on a Working Holiday?" .. and before I had answered yes, there was a little stamp in my passport, and I was on my way. No questions about my funds.

That's what happened in NZ. In the UK, Immigration Officers often ask Tier 5 YMS holders about their maintenance funds at the border to ensure they can still support themselves during their stay.
