Youth Mobility Visa - some questions please!

Post Thu Oct 30, 2008 12:18 pm

Will Canada be a country participating in the UK Youth Mobility Visa? According to the UK home office website, the visa category comes into effect on November 27, 2008, but they haven't said what countries would be included in their list.

Also, will the YMV be very much like the Working Holiday Visa in that it is meant for temporary workers interested in living and working in the UK for a brief period? So I would not need to FIND an employer and arrange to have a work permit issued for me BEFORE I go the UK?

And finally, where do I even go to if I have questions regarding this visa in Vancouver, BC? I am thinking of doing this visa through SWAP UK but they are just about as clueless about all this as I am, and I have to make sure that Canada will be on the list of eligible countries or else I would have to rush and apply for the WMV before it's totally gone!

Thanks!

I can't post the link because I am too new a member, but Canada has been confirmed as participating along with Australia, japan and new Zealand. It was leaked by a few of the british high commissions (Sudan-for sure).

The official announcement will be made tomorrow on the ukba website.

Yes! I've just read through the PDF file ("policy guidance") and it seems I need to get a certificate of sponsorship from a government approved agency. Does that mean I have to go through SWAP.ca to get this visa?
