Mali is a landlocked country in West Africa. The capital is Bamako while Algeria, Niger, Burkina, Faso, Cote d’lvoire, Guinea, Senegal, and Mauritania are at its borders. Mali is home to four UNESCO World-Heritage sites, including Timbuktu. The country was led under dictatorship until 1991 and in 1992 Mali held its first presidential election.

However, if public transportation is more your style then rest assured that there are many ways to get from Europe to Mali using a combination of buses and bush taxis.

Once you have arrived in Mali then take note that the area has a reliable bus system that travels to the main cities of Mali. There a multitude of companies with different schedules but the prices are generally comparable.

There are taxis in the larger cities, but to travel outward you need to hire a bush taxi or rent a car with a driver. The taxis come at a bargain and you do not have to worry about renting a vehicle.
