Of course, visiting the beaches here is a must, particularly if you’re a surfer. One of the best beaches can be found at Arugam Bay. Another must is finding treasures like spices and jewelry in the markets. But, don’t forget to venture into the rolling green hills, where you’ll find gorgeous greenery and pristine tea plantations.

No visit to Sri Lanka would be complete without visiting the National Parks. In Sril Lanka, National Parks are basically nature preserves. A four wheel drive trip into the Sinharaja Forest Preserve will let you observe monkeys, elephants, crocodiles and many species of birds, some of which are quite rare.

For some history, visit the ancient capital of Anuradhapura, once a royal capital. Today, you can see the ruins, as well as a modern day city. Another ancient capital Polonnaruwa, is also worth a visit. Here the site of the ancient capital has been preserved as a park.
