Greece travel tips & advice

Greece’s capital, Athens will likely be your first stop. Visit the Acropolis, where the Parthenon is also located. These two are, quite simply, the world’s most famous monuments. Don’t forget to take in the museum here, too. But, while in Athens you should also take in the beautiful pedestrian promenades, likely the oldest in Europe. Here, where cars are no longer allowed, tourists and locals stroll amidst modern buildings and ruins. You’ll find great shops, museums and restaurants here.

Visitors to Greece will also want to take in Olympia, the home of the ancient Greek Games that evolved into today’s Olympics. Most visitors will also want to explore the beautiful Greek Islands while here, as well. Mykonos is perhaps the most famous, known for beautiful sandy beaches and vibrant nightlife. However, Santorini is another beautiful and popular destination, particularly with honeymooners. Santorini boasts gorgeous beaches and sunsets unparalleled anywhere else in the world. For a quiet visit in Santorini visit Oia, but stick with Thira if you’re after nightlife.

A visit to Crete is also worthwhile. Not only is Crete home to beautiful beaches, but there are Minoan ruins all over the island. There are also quite a few monasteries and medieval fortresses to visit.
