Mexico is bordered by the United States, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea. Being surrounded by all those different bodies of water, with so many beautiful beaches, explains why tourists are so attracted to the country.

The capital of Mexico is Mexico City and is one of the world’s most populated cities. Mexico is considered to be the fifth largest country in the Americas, with a population of 109 million. This is the most populous Spanish speaking country in the world, and is comprised of 31 states and a federal district.

Mexico won its independence from Spain after a lengthy battle in 1821. The newly independent country decided to be named after its capital city of that time, which was Mexico-Tenochtitlan. This is in reference to the Mexica tribe, which was later to be known as the Aztec Civilization.

The present government in Mexico, is one that is comprised of a representative, democratic, and republican that is based on a presidential system. The government has three levels, which includes:
* The Federal Government
* The State Government
* The Municipalities

Mexico City has a nice paved road system, a transit, and an extensive bus system. The railway system is used for freight only and if traveling out of the city then the roads are unpaved and use of the bus system is the choice way to get around.

The largest airport in Latin America is located in Mexico City. There are over 30 domestic airlines and 2 international airlines (Aero México and Mexicana) available so daily flights to major areas are normally not an issue.
