At the Leading Hotels of the World Convention held in Venice, Italy, in November, 2009, Taj Hotels, Resorts & Palaces received top honors for their Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives and Taj West End Bangalore. The hotels were recognized for their high standards and commitment to excellence.
The Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives was awarded the eighth annual Commitment to Quality Award in the Asia Pacific region and was also named the Grand Prize Winner for Commitment to Quality. The award was based on achieving outstanding quality in all aspects of the luxury hotel experience. The resort scored an overall average of 95.6%, the highest score of any hotel examined during the competition’s audit. Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives is a small island resort that boasts tropical plants and clear blue waters all around. In the last year, the resort has revamped accommodations, including adding private pools to all Deluxe Lagoon Villas. It has also added new restaurants and upgraded its Jiva Grande Spa to offer a wide range of Indian wellness treatments. This resort is the first in the Maldives to become Green Globe Certified.
Taj West End, Bangalore has been presented the fourth annual Commitment to
Excellence award for the community category. This category recognizes hotels that demonstrate exceptional community development effort in the areas of community outreach, cultural support and environmental support. This particular hotel has participated in programs in health, education, empowerment of women and youth and employee volunteering in their local community. The Taj West End, Bangalore was also honored in the Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers Travel Awards 2009, listed among the top 10 overseas business hotels in world. These awards are determined from votes by Conde Nast readers who travel all over the world for business.
