1. Mardi Gras in New Orleans – Though many places celebrate Mardi Gras, nobody does it like the Big Easy. Visitors can expect partying in the streets, plenty of great Cajun food, strong Hurricanes to imbibe and plenty of ways to earn those beads. Celebration begins in late February and ends on Ash Wednesday.
2. Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany – One of Germany’s most famous events is the party that is Oktoberfest. It runs every year from late September until early October. Germans from all over the country gather in one of 14 tents to drink beer and eat great German food like sauerkraut and sausages.
3. Fiesta of San Fermin in Pamplona Spain – We’ve all heard of the running of the bulls. But many people aren’t aware that this is just one activity during the Fiesta de San Fermin in Pamplona. The rest of the festival is spent partying in the streets once each morning’s 8 am bull run is done. Warning – you must love Sangria to enjoy this party. The Fiesta de San Fermin is held July 6-14 each year.
4. The Calgary Stampede, Calgary, Canada – Who wouldn’t love a party where you get to dress up like a cowboy? The Calgary Stampede is held every year from July 6-15. In addition to the beer drinking, there are rodeos, concerts, chuck wagon dinners, casinos, and horse races for your entertainment. Yee-haw!
5. Holi – India – Holi is a party unlike any other. It is a Hindu celebration held mostly in the north of India. Each community holds their own Holi celebration, but many report that the best is in Mathura. During Holi, people douse each other with colourful dyes, powders, and sometimes just mud. One popular treat during Holi is the Bhang, which are chewy balls made from cannabis leaves. Holi is held in February or March each year. Exact dates vary based on the Hindu calendar.
