Prague is of course the capital of Czech Republic. It’s also one of the most picturesque capitals in the world. It’s a fairly large city, but feels like a medieval town, with Prague’s large castle overlooking the city.
Local Language: Czech, and German is definitely a good backup. Many younger people speak English though.
Costs: The Czech Republic, and Prague is cheap. You can probably get away with $50 per day.
My Travels in the Czech Republic
I’ve only been to the Czech Republic once, and I only had time to check out Prague. It really is a beautiful city, which explains the massive hordes of tourists. The Czech Republic still remains a huge bargain as well for budget travellers.
One of the most notable things about the Czech Republic is that it escaped much of the destruction of World War II. Many old towns and cities remain as they were, which is part of the attraction to cities like Prague. The Czech Republic is also very notable for it’s beers. The original Pilsner style of beer was brewed here, along with the real Budwesier, not the American crap version.
Prague is of course the capital of Czech Republic. It’s also one of the most picturesque capitals in the world. It’s a fairly large city, but feels like a medieval town, with Prague’s large castle overlooking the city. The 14th century bridge is one of the most famous landmarks, and street artists can be found there selling drawing and images of their beautiful city. Of course there are other Czech Republic cities that are well worth visiting.
Czech Republic, and Prague in particular gets very busy in the summer. Make your reservations as soon as possible!! I can’t stress that enough. All the good hostels and hotels book up quickly, and you don’t want to be sleeping on the streets if you can avoid it. Many locals will offer you rooms at the train station. Be wary and use common sense. Some people are legit, others will rip you off. Use your best judgment.
Prague is the major hub for the Czech Republic, and has several flights throughout Europe and the world. Find flights and prices to Prague.
