Does anyone know how this works with renewals by mail? I'm assuming all my husband would need is a letter from his employer to accompany his application, requesting a 3 year extension.

I think now it makes more sense to apply through I-129. Given that air ticket price is as much as $320 and the TN is valid for 3 years instead of 1. Hence, price per year is $320/3= 106.6666 instead of the usual $320/1 = 320. And no hassle to fly back and forth.

We have had customers who obtained a 3 year TN Visa. Their letters requested a 3 year term and they were approved.

I thought it would be timely to see if there are any updates to this topic which was last raised 7 months ago.

I am wondering if all POEs are now automatically issuing 3 year TNs (with letters from the employer stating the job will be 3 years)?

Has anyone been refused, had problems, been denied because they requested 3 years?

How about on the good side, has it been smooth sailing for 3 year TN seekers?

Do you need to have a passport valid for 3 years to get a 3 year visa? (Mine expires next year)

I got my 3-yr TN visa back in May of this year. There was no hassle at all.

Just letting everyone know I successfully obtained a 3 year TN at the Peace Bridge yesterday under Scientific Technician. Unfortunately for me, the CBP officer was training two other "officers in training" therefore he scrutinized my letter for them. It was extremely nerve-wracking. One thing it did confirm is that if you have all of your paperwork in order and an employer letter that contains all of the pertinent info then there shouldn't be a problem.

Hey everybody,

I'm a Canadian citizen with an engineering degree.

Does anybody know how hard it will be to get a TN Visa? Is a TN better than an H1B?

Does anybody have personal experience?
